Influence of Middle-Aged Women's Participation in Sports Activities on Stress and Life Satisfaction

This study aims to analyze differences of actual participating condition of middle aged women in sports activities by sports events and to examine influence of participating in sports on stress and life satisfaction. The results of search with participants in walk out, swimming and walking are as follows: First, among the individual characteristics, the group of people in their fifties marked lower depression aspects than the groups of twenties, thirties and forties. And, the group of people in their fifties showed lower aspects of general health and vitality than the groups of twenties and thirties. However, there was no difference regarding life satisfaction among the groups. Also, there was no difference in education levels. For the stress by income, the group of 4 million KRW income recorded lower depression aspects than the group of 2-3 million KRW income. In addition, the group of over 4 million KRW income had lower sleep disturbance and anxiety aspects than the group of 1-2 million KRW income. However, there was no difference in life satisfaction among the groups. Second, regarding life satisfaction by participation periods among the individual characteristics, the group of over two years marked higher life satisfaction than the group of one year-less than two years. However, there was no difference regarding the stress among the groups. Regarding he stress by participation frequency, the group of 2-3 days per week marked lower social roles and self-confidence than the group of everyday. However, there was no difference in life satisfaction among the groups. For the stress by participation hours, the group of one hour-two hours showed lower social roles, self-confidence and depression than the group of thirty minutes-one hour. In addition, the group of one hour-two hours had lower sleep disturbance and anxiety aspects than the group of over two hours and the group of one hour-two hours had lower general health and vitality aspects than the group of ten-thirty minutes. Also, the group of one hour-two hours showed higher satisfaction than the group of thirty minutes-one hour. Third, regarding stress by sport events, the groups of swimming and walking showed lower social roles and self-confidence aspects than the group of walk out. Also, the groups of walk out and walking marked lower depression than the group of swimming. In addition, the life satisfaction marked the order of walking, swimming and walk out from the highest.
