ABSTRACT The Effect of Platycodon Grandiflorum extract(PGE) on oxidative stress in C6 glioma cell apoptosis protective. Jae Joon Jo Dept. of Oriental Medicine Graduate School of Dongshin University Directed by Prof. Sang Yoon Jeon, O.M.D, Ph.D. This study is designed to investigate the effects of Platycodon Grandiflorum extract (PGE) by measuring the changes of the protective effects on cell death induced by chemicals such as paraquat, SNP, Rotenone, hydrogen peroxide and anti-oxidative effects in C6 glioma cells. The results are as follows ; 1. Platycodon Grandiflorum extract 250 ㎍ / ㎖ significantly above the level of concentration and reduced cell proliferation. 2. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, Paraquat been induced by apoptosis is significantly decreased. 3. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, SNP been induced by apoptosis is significantly decreased. 4. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, H2O2 been induced by apoptosis is significantly decreased. 5. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, Rotenone been induced by apoptosis is decreased, but the statistical significance is not. 6. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, Activity of SOD significantly increased. 7. In case of administration platycodon grandiflorum extract, Total glutathione did not affect the content. In conclusion, our study suggests that PGE is a disease caused by oxidative stress and aging, the prevention and treatment of food shall be able to be applied.
